The ability to balance and control our bodies is the key to effective
living. Having balance in your life; in all things, makes your
spiritual being very happy and healthy. Learning control
of your physical body and marital art will enhance your balance
in life.
This balance has a center. Maintaining that center will
ensure that you enjoy health and happiness in whatever direction
you choose for your life.
It was during my most physically challenging years of competition
that I began to study the healing arts. Most necessary was a way
to maintain balance in my spine and musculature. Combative
fighting training had changed my center slightly and added some
overdeveloped and over strengthened muscles.
This unbalance progressed further as I got older, even while treated
with Chiropractic and massage. Of course I had always stretched
before my workouts and after; but, had not considered that it
could be a workout.
Stretching while balancing has been a principal of yoga and flow
arts for centuries and this knowledge led me to explore more structured
flow arts.
It was during this time of study that one of my students shared
with me his style of yoga which he called Warrior Yoga.
In it, I saw the same forms, movement and balance that were present
and necessary for re-balance and conditioning through control.
